Mushrooms have been a much more recent addition to the farm, well they’ve always been here, we just weren’t actively trying to grow buckets of them. We grow Winecaps in wood chip mulch around the apple trees. Shiitake and Oyster types grow on logs out in our mushroom yard in the forest. Fungi are a key link in the cycle of turning wood back into the soil to grow more wood so we are happy to be encouraging this activity while growing tasty food.
